If you love animals, have 15 - 20
years experience caring for them, are free from
any commitments or obligations at home and are available for
a minimum of 16 weeks a year, then
house
and pet sitting could be
what you are looking for!
Our
pet sitters are single females,
single males and couples who are fit, capable
animal lovers who have had many years experience of caring
for pets of their own and are now taking the opportunity to
travel around the country caring for different types of
animals, at the same time earning some extra pocket money.
To help you decide if this is for you, we have put together
some frequently asked questions:
What experience do I need?
Our house and
pet sitting bookings range from the care of one cat
through to multiple dogs and even to small-holdings, whereby
a variety of farmyard animals can be expected.
Your pet care experience is vital; the more experience you have
with a wider variety of animal types and breeds, the greater
choice of bookings will be available to you. The clients
rely upon us to match their requirements to a pet sitter who
is capable and competent enough to care for their pets and
home. We ensure that every
pet sitter is made aware of what is required of them
during a booking.
How long do
pet sitting bookings last?
To give our clients greater
flexibility, we have no minimum or maximum booking length. New clients to
the Animal Angels
house and pet sitting service will often
book for a long weekend to start with, this
introduces them to the service and gives them confidence to
book for longer periods. We endeavour to give our clients
the same
house and pet sitter on each subsequent booking, which
provides continuity and builds the sitter client
relationship.
How often can I expect bookings?
We will endeavour to offer you bookings all year
round, subject to your availability. As a
house and
pet sitter, you would be under no obligation to take any bookings that
are
offered to you. If you are able to travel further
and are flexible with your time, then ultimately more
bookings will become available to you.
Am I insured whilst on a pet
sitting booking?
Yes,
Animal
Angels has comprehensive
insurances in place covering all aspects of our
house and pet sitting
service.
My dog is very well behaved,
could I take him with me?
Unfortunately no, alternative arrangements
have to be made for your own pets.
Do you require a CRB police check?
Yes, it is now common throughout the
house and pet sitting industry
for house and
pet sitters to obtain a clean CRB check. This gives the
client peace of mind and the reassurance that the person
caring for their home and pets is trustworthy, professional
and will conduct themselves with integrity.
Do I meet the client before the booking?
Yes, the preliminary meeting with the
client is very important. It allows you to meet the client
and their pets in their own home, in order to discuss their
house and pet sitting requirements
in more detail.
Will my travelling costs
be reimbursed?
Travelling costs will be paid at 37p
per mile by the client for each journey made in connection with the booking
and is capped to £75.00. This includes the preliminary
meeting, the actual booking itself and any journey connected
with the the pets themselves e.g. vets visits, purchase of
pet food etc.
If you are using public transport, your economy class fare
will be reimbursed.
What remuneration can I expect
to receive?
The
basic daily
pet and
house sitting rate is £27.00 (excluding travelling expenses)
and is paid to you directly by the client. The remuneration
covers the care of the client's home and is incremental
based on the number of animals you are asked to care for.
Will I have time to explore
the area?
Yes, you have three hours,
during daylight hours, to explore the area and make use of
the local amenities.
To ensure the security of the client's home, it must not be left
unoccupied for any period exceeding these three hours or
during the hours of darkness. Any duties that require you to leave
the premises, such as dog walking, are not included in these three
hours.
What happens if I have a problem whilst on a booking?
Throughout your booking, the
Animal
Angels 24-hour emergency help line will be available to
provide advice and assistance outside office hours. During
office hours you are free to call us with any questions
regarding the booking.
Can I take my partner with me?
If you would like your partner
to join you on bookings, they will also be required to go
through the application process, apply for a police check
and be interviewed at the
Animal
Angels office in Hampshire.
